VESSEL’S MANAGEMENT

The preferred Ship Manager for the technical and administrative management of the Vessels of the Fund is Columbia Shipmanagement Limited. The Board of Directors has the responsibility to ensure that the terms and conditions of the various Shipmanagement Agreements to be entered between the Fund and Columbia Shipmanagement Limited will be at arm’s length.

CREW MANAGEMENT

In order to provide qualified seafarers, CSM maintains its own crewing offices in more than 14 locations and multiple countries across the globe. By sharing the same cultural background with the seafarers at local offices, CSM benefits from high retention rates amongst CSM’s loyal crewing pool. Additional professional crewing agents contribute to providing the best recruitment and crew management service available in the market.

TRAINING

Seafarers play a vital role in operating CSM’s fleet and CSM places great emphasis on their development. CSM recognises the importance of educating its seafarers and in addition to mandatory training, have also developed client and company specific crew training programmes. CSM ensures that seafarers have access to facilities offering a wide range of simulators including Main Engine Type, Crane Handling and Bridge Team Management/Ship Handling courses.

COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT

Expertise: CSM’s team of professionals has extensive commercial, financial and technical expertise and experience in the safe, efficient and profitable management of all types of tonnage. Operations: CSM’s operations department works closely with ship commands, charterers, brokers, pool operators, port agents and bunker suppliers to ensure efficiency is maintained throughout all operations. Affiliations: Through its affiliated companies, CSM can identify and secure the best employment solutions for its clients’ Vessels.

PROCUREMENT POOL

Vessels under the management of CSM are registered with CSM’s procurement company GP General Procurement Company Limited (GenPro), which is an independent procurement company based in Limassol, Cyprus and founded by Columbia Shipmanagement and Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement. Its mission is to negotiate framework supply agreements with international ship suppliers on behalf of its members’ clients with a view to securing the lowest prices achievable on all consumables. GenPro’s purchasing volume allows it to achieve the best prices and (where possible) secure discounts based on volume. As a totally transparent, compliant business model, the scope and reach of GenPro will be to all products and consumables associated with the operation of maritime business onshore and offshore. This can be achieved by maximising values/ discounts/experience in purchasing power earned from corporate operations and contracts with vendors and suppliers.

NEW BUILDING SUPERVISION

For over 25 years CSM has supervised the construction of more than 280 Vessels, of various types, at leading shipyards in China, Korea, Japan, Germany, Poland, Russia, Turkey, South Africa, Argentina and Croatia. CSM offers complete new building solutions: design and evaluation of specifications, shipyard review, contract negotiation, manufacturer and supplier negotiations, planning, on-site supervision, sea trials, final delivery, guarantee claims handling.
