DR HANS MEISSNER

Executive Director/Shipping Operations Manager

Dr. Meissner is a veteran of the shipping industry, bringing with him 40 years of experience in marine engineering and ship design, shipbuilding as well as ship repairs and conversions. Of these four decades, he spent more than 30 years in several senior management positions in the maritime (shipping) industry. Dr. Meissner achieved professional and academic qualifications as both chief and supervising engineer while gaining his degree in Engineering & Ship Operation Techniques at the University of Marine Technology in Hamburg, Germany, and Ph.D. in Management and Business Administration from the University of Bratislava.

Dr. Meissner built his career in Blohm & Voss AG in Hamburg which he joined in 1986, where he served through various posts: Head of the Pre-Planning Department, Manager of the Project and Construction Division, Director of the Commercial Division. In 2004 when Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems started, a merger between HDW Kiel and Blohm & Voss Shipyards, Dr. Meissner was appointed as the Managing Directors of Blohm&Voss Repair. In 2008 Dr. Meissner became a member of the Executive Board Repair Group both positions he served until his retirement in 2011.

Since 2011, Dr. Meissner is working as a freelance shipping consultant for several international shipping companies that utilize his long-term expertise in the shipping industry at technical as well as top level management.

Over the years, Dr. Meissner has developed extensive shipbuilding, repair and conversion capabilities, and has also built extensive managerial skills, managing shipping business at the top executive level. Furthermore, over the last 30 years, Dr. Meissner has developed and built extensive working relationships within the shipping industry, especially with well-known shipyards, shipping companies and ship owners around the world.

Since 2011 Dr. Meissner is a supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA).
